Invent-Tech receives professional prototype of previously licensed product…

January 4th, 2007

Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Invent-Tech’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with a Thursday evening report. Invent-Tech continued the streak of positive news that has kicked off 2007 with the receipt of the professional prototype of the Batting Buddy, a baseball accessory that we assisted in licensing back in August 2006 to a Georgia-based sporting goods company and that we had most recently reported on in an October 9th, 2006 entry (”Invent-Tech receives positive news on previously licensed Batting Buddy invention; advanced level of interest secured in personal grooming accessory…“) As we’d mentioned in that posting, the licensee had just faxed us drawings at that time of what the revised design was going to look like, and they were expecting to have their factory begin work on the prototype shortly afterwards.

Sure enough, almost three months to the day from that development, we received the prototype from the licensee. The unit is fully functional and looks very impressive. The Manufacturer Response Team member that handled the licensing negotiations for the product will be taking digital photographs of the unit tomorrow and then promptly shipping it off to the inventor for their review and approval. Once a final design is agreed upon between the inventor and the licensee, the prototype or photos of it will go to an independent patent attorney for the patent application preparation on the invention.

We were certainly pleased that this licensee has been able to produce a unit with high quality craftsmanship in a relatively short amount of time. As we’ve stated before, there is a tremendous amount of work to be done by a licensee once a licensing agreement is reached before the product ever actually gets on store shelves. The finalizing of a prototype is a major step towards that ultimate goal, and it appears this company is well on its way to successfully completing this phase of the process.

Join us tomorrow as we wrap up the first week of 2007 with more interesting news!

[…] Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Invent-Tech’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with a Thursday update. Good news on previously licensed Invent-Tech inventor products seemed to be the order of the day today. To begin with, we received written feedback via e-mail from the inventor of the Batting Buddy, a sports accessory that we assisted in licensing in August 2006 and that we most recently had reported on back in a January 4th entry (”Invent-Tech receives professional prototype of previously licensed product…“). As we’d mentioned in that post, we were going to be shipping the prototype sample the licensee had recently sent us to the inventor for his review. After having received the unit, the inventor apparently took the prototype out to a local park in his area and allowed several kids to actually test the baseball-related instructional accessory with terrific results. We have communicated these results back to the licensee, who is pleased but is still searching for possible alternative materials to make the finished product from in order to reduce the per unit cost for ongoing manufacturing. As this situation continues to develop, we will keep you posted on it here on the Invent-Tech Network. […]
