Invent-Tech closes out Day 2 of National Hardware Show 2007 by visiting the booths of 2 Innovation Direct™ companies…

May 9th, 2007

Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Invent-Tech’s Director of Product Licensing, back one final time with a report on Day 2 of the National Hardware Show 2007. The momentum established in the early portion of the day carried over into the the afternoon, with the Invent-Tech booth continuing to experience a consistent flow of traffic. Additionally, the booths of two companies who are already part of our Innovation Direct program were visited by members of our trade show contingent in the South Hall of the Orange County Convention Center.

Perhaps the best way to pin down a company that has been the subject of several unsuccessful follow-up attempts is to take advantage of the one place where they are a captive audience: their trade show booth! Such was the case this afternoon with the Texas-based manufacturer that we had sent an initial Innovation Direct package to on March 8th (”Invent-Tech welcomes 2 new companies to Innovation Direct by sending out packages of product ideas in multiple categories…“). After sending them preliminary, non-confidential information on 8 product ideas from the Invent-Tech roster, we had attempted a couple of e-mail follow-ups with the national sales manager for the company but had gotten no response. Therefore, we did the next best thing this afternoon and paid him a personal visit!

The Invent-Tech team visiting the booth was actually very well received, and the national sales manager even took the extra step of introducing my colleagues to the CEO of the company. Most importantly, he explained that a constant stream of trade show participation has kept them tied up in recent weeks, but that they have an interest in learning more about 4 of the 8 product ideas they’d received the information for. The encounter concluded with our contact agreeing to get back to us shortly after the National Hardware Show with the names of the 4 product ideas that they’d like to explore further.

The second company is the Canadian company that we most recently reported on in an April 25th entry (”Update: Invent-Tech receives preliminary feedback from Canadian tool manufacturer regarding Innovation Direct™ package…“). As we’d stated in that post, the contact at the company had already stated that there seemed to be “items of interest” in the 12 product ideas we’d sent him preliminary, non-confidential information about, and that the materials had been forwarded to their marketing department for further review. Our trade show contingent did make a stop in their booth this afternoon as well, but the contact person we have been dealing with is not actually attending the show. However, our team was able to get more acquainted with their product lines and the company in general, which will assist us in continuing to cultivate a relationship that has already gotten off to a very positive start.

Needless to say, it was a momentous Day 2 overall for Invent-Tech at the National Hardware Show 2007. With the level of activity so far, we feel that Day 3 also holds tremendous promise. Join us tomorrow for all the news from the final day of this terrific show!
